Students to enjoy free internet for one year from Oct 1

SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 — A total of 7,000 Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS) students from 10 districts will enjoy free internet data for a year beginning this Friday (October 1)

Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari said the initiative from Selangor Internet Data (SID) will facilitate the students to do their academic revision throughout online learning.

“The District Education Office will identify those who are eligible to receive the benefit, which is fully subsidised by the state government.

“The students will receive up to 15 gigabyte Internet data every month for free, and can activate the SIM card from October 1 onwards,” he said when met after handing over the free SIM cards to the representatives from the Education Office, here, today.

Among the districts included in the programme include Gombak, Petaling Utama, Petaling Perdana, Sepang, Klang, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, and Hulu Selangor.

On August 4 Amirudin announced the SID Data initiative that will benefit 70,000 people in Selangor, including PTRS students, Selangor’s Foundation borrowers, Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor as well as Universiti Selangor students.

Apart from that, the students from the Selangor State Technical Skills Development Center, online traders under the Selangor e-Bazar, farmers and single mothers are also included in the programme.
