Vaccine in hot demand at Gombak Setia

GOMBAK, Sept 15 — Another successful day of vaccination took place in Gombak Setia today when the Selangor Vaccination Programme’s mobile unit (Selvax Mobile) came to visit.

In just 5 hours, all 600 doses of vaccine brought by the visiting team were used up.

Its coordinator Rahim Kasdi said the programme that was scheduled to end at 5pm, had to be closed three hours earlier due to overwhelming response, including from foreigners.

“Even after 2pm there are still many people queuing outside the hall to get the vaccine. This indicates that the public awareness of the importance of immunisation is increasing.

“If necessary, we will discuss with Selcare to repeat this programme in the nearest future,” he said at the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) held at Dewan Rakyat Terbuka, Padang Awam Batu Caves here.

Rahim also called on individuals who have not been vaccinated to join Selvax Mobile next stop at Bukit Antarabangsa and Batang Kali state constituencies tomorrow.

The programme that started on September 12 was to ensure that no citizen of the state is left out of receiving vaccinations.

Selvax mobile will run for 11 days from 9am to 5pm at Hulu Bernam, Bandar Baru Klang, Batu Tiga, Tanjung Sepat, Gombak Setia, Bukit Antarabangsa, Batang Kali, Banting, Teratai, Dengkil and Kampung Tunku.

The initiative was made possible from an RM200 million allocation under the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 that was announced on June 9.
