SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 — Water supply to several affected areas in Selangor that were hit by unscheduled water disruption is restored in stages from 7am today after the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (WTP) resumed operations yesterday.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) corporate communication head Elina Baseri in a statement today said water supply in the 463 affected areas is expected to fully restore at midnight on September 3.

“Air Selangor had conducted water quality testing and it had complied with the standards set by the Health Ministry. The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) had confirmed that the water treated from the Sungai Semenyih WTP is safe to be distributed to consumers.

“Air Selangor is currently working to stabilise the water supply distribution system to all affected areas. Water supply restoration to all 463 affected areas will be made in stages and full recovery is expected to happen at midnight on September 3,” the statement read.

Elina said Air Selangor will continue to mobilise alternative water supply assistance to the users and critical premises affected by the incident.

“A total of 94 water tankers were sent to the areas affected by the unscheduled water cuts. The public are reminded to observe their physical distance and keep wearing face masks when getting the water supply from the water tankers,” she added.
