By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 —Water supply has been restored to 66 per cent of the 463 areas, which experienced unscheduled water cuts as at 7pm today.

In a statement today, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) stated that Hulu Langat recorded the highest recovery rate with 90.7 per cent followed by Putrajaya (82.6 per cent), Sepang (81.4 per cent), Kuala Langat (75 per cent) and Petaling (37.2 per cent).

Its corporate communications head Elina Baseri said advised consumers who get supplies to let the taps run until the water is clear before use.

“Air Selangor hopes that consumers who have received their water supply will use water prudently to allow the recovery process in the other affected areas to run smoothly as scheduled,” she said.

She said alternative water supply assistance through water tankers have been mobilised to consumers and critical premises in the affected areas.

“Air Selangor would like to remind the public to comply with physical distancing and to wear face masks when collecting water supply from the water tankers,” she said.

Latest updates from time to time are available on the Air Selangor application, website www.airselangor.com as well as Air Selangor social media platforms including FacebookInstagram and Twitter.

Yesterday, the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant had temporarily ceased operations following the odour pollution detected at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station at 11.10am.
