12MP: 98 flood mitigation projects approved in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 — A total of 98 flood mitigation projects involving an allocation of RM533 million under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12) have been approved, says the Menteri Besar.

According to Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, one of the projects, the Sungai Buloh Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB) Phase 1, is currently being implemented.

“A total of 78 projects with an allocation of RM425.33 million under the 11MP have been completed, while 98 more projects have been approved under the 12MP with an allocation of RM533 million.

“For projects under the 12MP, a total of RM440 million has been channelled and one of the 98 projects — the Sungai Buloh RTB Phase 1 project — has been implemented,” he said via his social media accounts Facebook and Twitter today.

Apart from that, Amirudin said the state has applied for an additional allocation of RM1.3 billion to implement five RTB projects to address climate change issues and recurring floods.

“The Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department has made an application for an additional RM1.3 billion to build five more RTB projects,” he said.

The five RTB projects are as follows:
– RTB Sungai Kapar Kecil and Sungai Kapar (Meru and Klang)
– RTB Sungai Langat Phase 2 (Sepang, Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat)
– RTB Sungai Buloh Phase 2 (Petaling and Kuala Selangor)
– RTB Anak Sungai Udang Phase 2 (Selayang and Gombak)
– RTB Sungai Kundang (Bandar Baru Kundang and Rawang)
