Air Selangor: Water restored to affected areas in Selangor by 85 per cent

By Jerry Choong

SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 — The 998 areas affected by the scheduled water disruption have recovered to 85 per cent as of 6pm today, according to Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

The disruption, caused by the upgrading and maintenance works on the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant’s (SSP1 WTP) critical assets, was expected to last from October 13 to 16.

“The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary, depending on the distance of consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system,” it said in a Facebook post.

Air Selangor said it hopes that consumers who have received water supply will use their water prudently, to ensure the recovery process in the other affected areas can run smoothly as scheduled.

“Recovery status for affected areas, Public Water Taps and Commercial Water Filling Station can be obtained at hentitugas.airselangor.com,” it said.

The public in the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, and Kuala Selangor districts were advised beforehand to store sufficient amounts of water at home and at work, in anticipation of the scheduled water disruption.

During this period, Air Selangor prepared 18 public water pipes and mobilised 105 tanker lorries for critical premises including hospitals, dialysis centres, and funerals.

Four water filling stations have also been opened for commercial customers, where they can make purchases using tanker lorries.
