SHAH ALAM, Oct 9 — Seri Setia state assemblyman hoped the upcoming 2022 Selangor Budget will improve on the Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat, which offers 33 assistance programmes to the people, so that more people will benefit.

Halimey Abu Bakar also asked for flexibility in increasing any existing allocation should the funds have been fully utilised.

“If a certain scheme runs out of budget, the state government should consider providing additional funding to last until the end of the year,” he said during the 2022 Selangor Budget townhall session, here, yesterday.

The session was joined by the Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari along with the Selangor Backbenchers Club (BBC) and the state government’s senior officers.

As for Balakong state representative Wong Siew Ki, she raised issues on the economic recovery, activities for the new Undi18 young voters and efforts to empower women.

“All of the issues are important. It provides the opportunity for economic recovery especially in Balakong constituency.

“Even though the state government’s revenue is lower compared to previous years, it is still important to provide some assistance and allocation to the main sector,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sentosa state representative Dr Gunaraj George has suggested the state organise a Clean and Green campaign as part of the efforts to tackle the garbage problem.

“Selangor is a rapidly developing state but we still face problems with garbage. If not addressed properly, it will create a perception to the people that the state government is not capable of handling the matter,” he said.

Suzana Shaharudin, the Bukit Antarabangsa constituency coordinator has proposed a training course to provide certification to those who babysit children aged up to four years old.

“I hope the state government would consider the suggestion and implement it in all state constituencies, as it helps to boost the kids’ development before they enter school.

“I also hope the budget would focus more on the women, youth and children’s welfare,” she said.
