SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Selangor branch has arrested five employees of a hospital, on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes from agents in return for funeral arrangements at the hospital.
According to MACC sources, such activities are believed to have been carried out from 2019 to 2021 and involved total bribes of more than RM20,000.
Sources said it was understood that all the male suspects, aged between 34 and 44, were arrested at about 3 pm at the Selangor MACC office today, when they were present to give statements.
Meanwhile, Selangor MACC director, Datuk Alias Salim, confirmed the arrests and said that all suspects were being investigated under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009, and would be brought to the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for a remand application.
