Flash flood: Three relief centres opened in Sepang

SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 — Three temporary evacuation centres were opened in Dengkil, Sepang following a flash flood incident which struck the district yesterday.

Citing a Berita Harian report, Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah said the relief centres are located at Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Gemilang, Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Dengkil, and SRA Kampung Dato Ahmad Razali.

“The Sepang Disaster Management Committee has mobilised its full assets and workforce to help affected residents,” he said.

Yesterday seven villagers and two housing areas were affected by the flash flood due to the heavy rainfall since 1pm, which caused Sungai Langat to overflow in several locations.

These locations include Kampung Sungai Merab Jaya, Kampung Lalang, Kampung Ampar Tenang, Kampung Cemperai, Kampung Sri Tanjung, Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Melut, Kampung Orang Asli Batu 28 Jenderam, Taman Delima, and Taman Baiduri.

Meanwhile 100 houses in Taman Dataran Abadi and Kampung Labu Lanjut were affected by the broken boundary wall at Sungai Labu, which resulted in water overflow into residents’ homes.
