Guidance, grants for Indian entrepreneurs in Selangor

KUALA SELANGOR, Oct 11 — More than 300 Indian entrepreneurs in the state have benefited from the Selangor State Indian Entrepreneur Development Programme (Sitham).

State executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said figures recorded in 2019 and last year involved Phase One recipients with funds totalling RM2 million.

“The delivery of the equipment was delayed due to some constraints such as the movement control order and the emergency. I hope all applicants remain patient as this process will be expedited now that interstate travel is allowed because some of the tools are from outside of Selangor,” she said.

Rodziah was speaking after handing over an animal feed processing machine to cattle farmer M Visvaath at Taman Raja Musa here today.

She said the programme received an allocation of RM1 million every year and entrepreneurs who are interested to join can apply through the Hijrah Selangor website.

Launched in September 2019, Sitham focuses on committed Indian entrepreneurs who want to advance their business by providing them with guidance, grants and business tools.

Four areas of entrepreneurship are given focus, namely entrepreneur development training, skills and manufacturing courses, a business coaching programme (Getting Rich Own Way or Grow) and a business equipment assistance program (Geran).
