SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The beach tourism facilities and public amenities in Kuala Langat remain closed today, despite the receding waves initially caused by the high tide phenomena.

Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat (MPKL) Speed Squad chief Mazlan Abdul Manap said this is to ensure the public’s continued safety, as well as to prevent any untoward incidents.

“Even though the situation began to normalise today, nonetheless beach activities remain prohobited and monitoring is still ongoing alongside the police,” he said.

Mazlan commended the public for avoiding the beaches, after being informed of the risks posed by the high tides.

“Prior to this many beachgoers came by, unaware that the area was closed. However upon being told, they cooperated with the authorities and dispersed,” he said, adding that beaches in the district should be reopened by tomorrow.

The past four days has seen the high tides reaching up to 5.6 metres, with the highest reading today at 5.4 metres.

MPKL had earlier warned residents along the coastal area of the high tide, which began on October 7 until October 10.

Among the areas affected include Pantai Kelanang, Pantai Baru Morib, Pantai Morib, Taman Harmoni Morib, Istana Bahagia Morib, Pantai Batu Laut, Pantai Chunang dan Jeti Tanjung Sepat.
