PETALING JAYA, Oct 14 — Over 500 bottles of five-litres drinking water were distributed to the residents of Flat Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor at Section 17 earlier today.

The donation from Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) also included a 5,000 litres water tank, which can be used by the area’s residents.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari visited the area this morning to distribute the donation to residents, accompanied by Air Selangor chief executive officer Suhaimi Kamaralzaman.

Also present was Seri Setia assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar, and Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran.

Earlier on, Amirudin said the water supply to affected areas, which were involved in the critical assets’ maintenance works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant, will be restored in stages by this evening.

The works began yesterday after the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) granted its permission.

Following the upgrading works, 998 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor districts were advised to store sufficient water supply at home and at work.

Air Selangor has also provided 18 public water taps and mobilised 105 water tankers to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres and funerals, from October 13 to 16.

Further information on the affected areas, public water taps and water-filling stations can be found at http://hentitugas.airselangor.com.
