MB’s wishlist for Federal Budget 2022 focuses on road infrastructure and flood mitigation

By Mustakim Ramli

KLANG, Oct 29 — The state government is hopeful the Federal Budget 2022 which will be tabled today can benefit the people of Selangor.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said among the things that ought to be given focus is infrastructure, specifically highways and flood mitigation projects.

“We hope that several of the Malaysian Road Records Information System’s (MARRIS) conditions to fund road maintenance works can be loosened.

“If the conditions can be loosened and made easier, I believe many of these issues can be resolved, such as roads with potholes which require an increase in terms of quality and the materials used to construct them,” he said after launching the Selangor Freelance initiative at Hotel Wyndham Acmar yesterday.

“On flood mitigation projects, Amirudin said the state government had previously requested the federal government provide a RM1.3 billion allocation for that purpose.

I believe flood mitigation projects can be done all at once or in stages,” Amirudin said, adding that he is also asking Putrajaya to consider providing incentives to tourism operators who have been affected by the pandemic, to stimulate the sector.
