SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 — Seven programmes have been arranged by the state government as this year’s host for the National Environment Day 2021, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
These include collecting 800 metric tonnes of electric and electronic waste, and tree-planting activities to support the campaign to plant 100 million trees by 2025.
Other programmes are the Majlis Apresiasi Media Alam Sekitar, Webinar Diskusi Menjentik Minda: Belia Cakna Alam Sekitar, and the Webinar Industri Lestari: Penyelesaian Masalah Pencemaran Sumber Air di Selangor.
The Majlis Anugerah Industri Lestari will also be held to recognise contributions in environmental management, and the Plastic Busters campaign, which targets the reduction in plastic bag usage.
“I believe we are on the right track in managing the environment sustainably, via four main pillars. These include good administration, power legislative instruments, comprehensive enforcement, and continuous education along with awareness,” he said during the virtual officiation of the celebrations earlier today.
The celebrations, themed ‘Environment, Responsibility Together’ was also joined by Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Amirudin added that the synergy between state and federal government agencies should be pushed forward, particularly on enforcement aspects, so as to cover all environment-related problems.
