SHAH ALAM, Oct 22 — The aviation ecosystem in Selangor is in its final stages of completion and the state has the strength and capability to propel its aerospace industry, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said this claim is based on data as well as the state government’s close engagement with the industry’s key players, both in Selangor and in the rest of the country.
“We are eager to show how the aviation ecosystem works, hence the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS 2021). We want the public and the industry players to see how the ecosystem can operate in their favour.
“As we know, the aviation industry is one of the most badly affected industries due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, I believe that we will be able to protect the industry as we can see that there is progress and new developments from time to time,” he said during a press conference after launching the SAS 2021, here, today.
SAS 2021 is the first aviation show in Selangor and it will be held from November 25 to 27 at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Subang.
Hosted by the state government, the programme which is organised by Invest Selangor will be the networking event for the aerospace industry, especially in the area of business and general aviation. It also serves to re-energise the region’s aviation sector.
Amirudin said the decision to hold the aviation show came about during the launch of the Selangor Action Plan last year.
“After some adjustments, the SAS 2021 will kickstart the recovery of the industry and we hope the show will be able to offer business and job opportunities to the participants.
“Currently, 65 per cent of the aerospace industry players are established in Selangor, with Subang district being one of the most crucial sites for the industry.
“Even though we have no specific target in terms of the potential sales to be generated from the show, given that this is the first time it is organised, we have received a very encouraging response from the participants,” he said.
The inaugural event will bring together 43 exhibitors, including players from Brazil, France, the United States of America, Switzerland and Turkey.
