KAJANG, Oct 27 — The upgrade works at Sungai Langat to overcome the flooding issue is projected to finished by mid-November, after it first commenced three months ago.

Balakong assemblyman Wong Siew Ki said the RM1.18 million project has been proceeding according to schedule, in cooperation with the Hulu Langat Irrigation and Drainage Department.

“We believe the stabilisation works on the river bank and its deepening will relieve over 50,000 residents in Kajang town and Sungai Chua, once completed.

“Indeed, the project seems to have show good development since the involved area has not been inundated, even though rainfall reached 116 millimetres last week,” she said during the handover of SIM cards contributed by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) to recepients at her community service centre yesterday.

Wong thanked the department for working around the clock to ensure the project would be realised.

“I appreciate their efforts in also seeking to apply for allocations from the federal government, so that the project could be carried out,” she said.
