SHAH ALAM, Oct 27 — A special complaints hotline to handle issues of domestic violence in Selangor, named SELamat, will begin operating on November 1.

Wanita Berdaya Selangor’s (WBS) chief executive officer Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki said victims seeking help can contact 03-64195027, which operates 24 hours a day.

“This official line acts as an emergency assistance to victims of domestic violence, before they get follow-up assistance.

“Additionally the line will be operated by WBS personnel, together with support from volunteers,” she told SelangorKini.

Siti Kamariah said the line will be officiated by state Public Health, Unity, Women and Family Development Committee exco Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

Earlier on June 9, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that RM100,000 would be channeled to develop the special hotline.

The allocation was included in the RM551.56 million Pakej Kita Selangor 2.0, which is expected to benefit at least 1.6 million Selangorians, including the B40 low-income group, students, small-scale entrepreneurs, farmers, and tourism operators.
