2022 Selangor Budget: Hopes for aid to help single mothers hit by pandemic

By Siti Rohaizah Zainal

SHAH ALAM, Nov 11 — The 2022 Selangor Budget should focus on helping single mothers in the state, says Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS).

Its chief executive officer Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki said based on a study carried out by the agency, 25 per cent of single mothers were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I hope to see that the state budget would set aside some allocation for single mothers by providing them aid that would ease their burden,” she told SelangorKini, yesterday.

On October 8, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had during a briefing session told all state assemblymen and community leaders in Selangor to be inclusive in the process of formulating the state budget.

This also includes opposition and independent state representatives to discuss putting together a more constructive budget for the people.

The 2022 Selangor Budget will be tabled on November 26 and debated for a week before it is passed at the Selangor state legislative assembly in December.
