KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 — New Covid-19 cases today dropped slightly to 6,355 cases from 6,380 cases yesterday, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Of the new cases, 98.2 per cent or 6,240 cases were in categories one and two, while 115 cases or 1.8 per cent were in categories three, four and five, he said.
As for recovered cases, Dr Noor Hisham said 5,031 cases were recorded today, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,477,314 while 10 new clusters were identified, adding that there are currently 246 active clusters in the country.
“A total of 542 cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 268 of them requiring respiratory assistance,” he said in a statement today.
He also said that Malaysia’s infectivity rate now (Rt) now stands at 1.02, with Kuala Lumpur recording the highest Rt at 1.09 followed by Negeri Sembilan (1.07) and Putrajaya and Kelantan at 1.06 each.
Detailed information on the Covid-19 situation in the country will be uploaded on the COVIDNOW portal at https://covidnow.moh.gov.my and the data will be updated at midnight every day.
