SHAH ALAM, Nov 21 — The fines for late payments of assessment tax for the second term of the year have been waived to ease the burden of the people following the Covid-19 pandemic.
State executive councillor Ng Sze Han said the decision by the Selangor government was approved on November 17 and involved financial implications estimated at RM13.8 million.
“The decision is in line with the state government’s initiative and stance in easing the economic burden of the people in facing the pandemic.
“All premise or property owners that have tax arrear payment for the (second) term will not be penalised for the late payment,” he said in a statement today.
Ng had also reminded the public to check their tax assessment statements to ensure that payments were made within the given stipulated period.
