Higher demand sees Sky Mirror operators increase boats

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — Boat operators for the Sky Mirror tourist location in Kuala Selangor have increased their amenities, following a rise in visitors since tourism activities were permitted under Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad said the international-level location has received wide promotion from the public on social media platforms.

“Now many use TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter to share the uniqueness of the Sky Mirror. As I understand it, operators have added more boats to bring tourists to the site.

“Not many know there are only two Sky mirrors in the world; one at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, and one in Kuala Selangor,” he said during the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the development of the SACC Walk Retail Container with PKNS Real Estate Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Fakru Radzi Ab Ghani at SACC Mall yesterday.

Azrul added that several other sites in Selangor have also seen a response from tourists, namely Pantai Morib, Banting, Sabak Bernam, and Jeti Sirip Biru in Sepang.

Nonetheless, he said local authorities are continuing to monitor tourism sites to ensure no standard operating procedures (SOP) are being violated.

“As the tourism promotion agency, we have highlighted the importance of adhering to SOPs, especially when these locations become the focus point for many during the weekend,” he said.

On December 17 last year, Tourism Selangor introduced the Pusing Selangor Dulu campaign, to encourage locals to visit the state.

With popular actress Che Puan Juliana Evans as its ambassador, the state tourism body also uses the #PusingSelangorDulu hashtag, which has since reached 22 million hits on social media.
