By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) has received up to 200 applications for the Selangor Internet Scheme for the M40 category (SISM40) since July this year.

Of this number, almost 100 applicants have received the benefits, while the remaining applicants are expected to receive it in the nearest future, said corporate communications director Julailey Jemadi.

“We are currently waiting for TM (Telekom Malaysia Berhad) to install the ports,” he said when contacted today.

Julailey added that 59 other applications were rejected based on several factors, including the applicants being blacklisted by telecommunications companies, or already possessing Internet connectivity at home.

SISM40 is among the assistances provided under the Pakej Kita Selangor 2.0 announced by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on June 9, to aid Selangorians in overcoming the problems posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aimed at the middle class, the initiative offers a fee subsidy for package subscriptions from RM10 to RM30 for a year, with a speed ranging from 30 to 300 megabytes per second.
