MBSA goes cashless for compound, rental payment next year

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will expand its cashless payment services for compounds, parking fees, and rental of its premises by next year.

Mayor Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor said the move will be implemented following encouraging responses from the public, who started paying the assessment tax online in July.

“The amount from cashless payment increases every term with over 60 per cent recorded this year, therefore we plan to expand the service,” he said when met after launching the new initiative at Dewan Auditorium here earlier today.

Zamani added that payment over the counter would still be continued for those who need to use the service.

“MBSA hopes the initiative will facilitate the public and help them to save time, apart from promoting the new cashless lifestyle to the public by next year,” he said.

On July 27, MBSA introduced an online payment method for assessment tax via the link www.eps.mbsa.gov.my.

Meanwhile Zamani urged small traders who obtained temporary permits to submit new applications for permanent business licences.

He said the application would ease their placement process due to the fact that the temporary permit will expire in December.

“Previously, some of the traders started their business because they were not able to work, but the trend has declined as most of them are now employed.

“Therefore MBSA will try to accommodate the small traders who have submitted their application, to continue their business at the provided location,” he said when commenting on the small traders temporary status under the purview of the local council.

On October 14, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that some 7,000 small traders have received temporary licences for this year.
