Nearly 2,000 registrations, more seek to join Selangor Freelance — PNSB

SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — The Selangor Freelance initiative has recorded approximately 1,450 pre-registered participants since its launch on October 28.

Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad’s (PNSB) public communications division said the general response is encouraging, with the number of registrations increasing daily.

“Most of the applicants are aged 18 and above and consist of those seeking employment or wish to start careers as freelance workers.

“We welcome youths in particular to join Selangor Freelance, and they stand a chance to enjoy a cash incentive of RM400,” said PNSB.

The programme offers 5,000 training opportunities to increase employment skills and marketability and strengthen the digital side economy.

Participants will be trained to take advantage of work as freelancers and how to use the Workana platform for two days.

Individuals who are either employed or otherwise can make applications at http://selangor.workana.com.

On January 20, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative is expected to create over 1,000 job opportunities and help affected groups following the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added Selangor Freelance’s implementation was expedited to absorb the economic impact from Covid-19, with a RM10 million allocation.

The initiative is listed under the digitalisation programme in the 2021 Selangor Budget, with an expenditure of RM369 million via state funds and GLCs.
