SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — Over 200,000 local and international books will be offered at the Selangor Book Fair 2021, which runs from December 2 until December 12.

Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said the 11-day book fair will also be held hybridly, to give opportunity to those who cannot make it to the festival.

She added the public are welcome to attend the event from 10am to 9pm (weekdays) and 10am to 10pm on the weekends.

“Themed ‘Menghubungkan Hati dan Minda (Connecting Heart and Mind), the book festival is implemented in a hybrid manner as a symbolic gesture that with every hardship comes ease.

“We hope the event will be supported by the public and all the books will be sold out,” Mastura said when contacted by SelangorKini.

She said the book fair will be held in cooperation with the Selangor Digital E-Supply Chain (Seldec) to provide an opportunity for the public to purchase books online.

Similarly the collaboration also involves the National Book Council of Malaysia, the Shopee mobile app, and Maybank as the strategic partner for payment transactions.

Commenting further on the standard operating procedures (SOPs), Mastura said around 1,000 -1,500 people are allowed to be in the hall at one time and they will be given a numbering system.

“Meanwhile, for those who are waiting for their turn, plenty of chairs and spacious waiting areas are provided in the SACC hall, which includes a cafeteria,” she said.

Mastura said the book fair will be also officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on December 4 at 3pm, where he will also launch a few books during the event.
