Remove quotas when assisting state constituencies for #Selangor2022, says Opposition assemblyman

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — A state representative has called for the allocations under the 2022 Selangor Budget (#Selangor2022) to be equally divided between rural and urban residents in the state.

Sungai Panjang assemblyman Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin said comprehensive proposals based on demographics must be made, to ensure every Selangorian can enjoy the proverbial fruits of the state.

“We know the initiatives and welfare provided to the people must be continued, but at the present there are certain quotas according to state constituency.

“I feel this should be improved, whoever qualifies should be given the initiative, even if it exceeds the quota,” he said in a discussion session broadcasted on Media Selangor’s Facebook page.

Imran claimed problems often arose whenever assistance quotas are distributed on the basis of voters, and not in terms of each constituency’s population numbers.

As such, this complicates things when the main focus of the budget is on restoring the economy, post-Covid 19.

“Whoever qualifies and meets the criteria should be given assistance equally, there should not be a certain quota for any constituency,” he said.

The tabling of the #Selangor2022 Budget can be watched live on SelangorTV’s (selangortv.my) channel and on social media at https://www.facebook.com/MediaSelangor
