Selangor govt standardises work hours for construction sector to ease operations

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — The Selangor government has agreed to standardise the working hours of the construction sector in the state from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm, says Ng Sze Han.

The state executive councillor for local government said the decision effective November 1 would ease the sector’s operations, in line with Selangor entering Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan last October.

“The movement order control that was enforced since last year directly impacted the sector’s operations, resulting in late completion of construction works.

“However, operating beyond the stipulated hours is allowed but requires seeking special permission from respective local authorities,” Ng said in a statement yesterday.

He added that all developers and contractors are reminded to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures and bylaws outlined by the local councils.

On October 18, Selangor had moved to Phase Four of the NRP based on the set guideline, which includes the vaccination rate of the adult population.

The move had opened more economic sectors and ease of movement control.
