Sidec to see 45 speakers and over 700 companies join in from Nov 19 to 21

SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — The sixth edition of the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (Sidec) will take place next Friday (November 19) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with over 700 companies expected to participate.

The convention, Southeast Asia’s premier smart city and digital economy presentation, was first held in 2016. This year’s convention will be conducted both physically and virtually, following relaxed Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP)

Part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2021, in the week leading up to Sidec, all 60 physical booths have been sold via 40 participating companies.

With the theme ‘Digital Transformation Towards Economic Recovery’ for Sidec this year, the participants can look forward to the three-day event to collectively delve into the mechanics of the digitalisation ecosystem.

Despite the restrictions on the number of participants due to the pandemic, Sidec will gather industry leaders, academics, small and medium enterprises (SME), as well as the government and private sectors.

Together they will look into strengthening and growing Selangor’s SME digitalisation ecosystem, into shaping the existing and future smart city and digital economy’s frameworks and solutions.

Among the speakers at the event include Sidec’s chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping, Agrobank chief executive officer Khadijah Iskandar, Boost Life chief executive officer Ungku Norliza Syazwan Ungku Halmie, MyDIGITAL chief executive officer Fabian Bigar, Agroz Group chief executive officer and founder Gerard Lim, among others.

The topics raised during the two-day panel discussions cover a wide variety on Fintech, Agritech, Travel Tech, Digital Marketing, and SME Digitalisation.

Prominently featured is Sidec’s livestream element, as renowned singer Datuk Seri Siti
Nurhaliza Tarudin will be attending the event as the special guest of honour. Siti is herself the president of CTDK Holdings.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari will officiate the convention during its second day, on November 20. Both he and state executive councillor Dato’ Teng
Chang Khim will also witness the signing of a a memorandum of understanding between CTDK Holdings and Sidec Sdn Bhd.

Twenty startups from Selangor’s top three accelerators Sidec, ScaleUp Malaysia and Sunway iLabs, will also compete for the top three spots to win cash prizes worth RM30,000 on the third day of the convention.

Pitch@Selangor 5: Selangor Super League which will also feature sharing sessions by Elain Lockman of Ata Plus, William Lien of Mystartr and Sam Shafie of pitchIN.
