Bandar Utama, Balakong vaccine booster shot quotas snapped up in record time

By Amin Ridzuan Ishak

SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — The 3,000 booster jabs quota under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) Booster in the Bandar Utama and Balakong constituencies have been fully taken up.

Balakong assemblyman Wong Siew Ki and Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin provided online registration for residents in said areas, who want to opt for a Sinovac booster shot from the state government.

Wong said the 1,000-person quota for Balakong residents was filled within two hours, after she announced the initiative through a live broadcast on her Facebook two days ago.

“I made the announcement at 6.30pm and two hours later, when I logged in to Facebook again, I received around 1,000 requests.

“The overwhelming response came mainly from senior citizens and individuals who have already received  the Sinovac vaccine, so they want to have the same vaccine type for their booster shot,” she said.

Wong added the Selvax Booster programme will be held at the Kampung Baru Community Hall in Balakong this Friday (December 17)

Similarly Jamaliah said a total of 2,000 requests were received from residents for the Bandar Utama Selvax Booster programme at Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya, on December 18 and 19.

“The total requests have exceeded the allocated slots. However we are conducting a review process to ensure there are no redundancies in the application.

“I will make further announcements on Facebook today, should there be available slots to be fulfilled,” she said.

On December 7, the state government announced a total of 157,000 booster doses will be given for free under the Selvax Booster programme.
