Container and conventional facilities not affected by floods — Westports

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama) — Westports Holdings Bhd has announced that the container and conventional facilities at Westports, Port Klang were not impacted by the flash floods on December 17 and December 18, 2021.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Westports said the flash floods affected Klang, its surrounding areas, some access roads and residential areas in the Klang Valley and Pulau Indah.

It also said that some employees were unable to report to work due to travel difficulties, causing an impact on productivity and berthing delays.

“We expect some cumulative effects that could contribute to a throughput shortfall that hinders the company from achieving the guided single-digit growth for 2021.

“Westports is disclosing that as of December 18, 2021, our container throughput volume is 10.12 million twenty-foot equivalent units,” said Westports.

The company is working with the authorities and other industry players to mitigate the adverse impacts and ensure uninterrupted operation.

On the community front at Pulau Indah, Westports said it is repairing access roads, clearing fallen trees, providing accommodation and food to affected evacuees in Westports’ Dewan Budaya Tan Sri G Culture Hall, while rendering other assistance.
