SHAH ALAM, Dec 9 — Details on the Kuala Langat North reserve forest (KLNFR) will be tabled during the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting later this month, said Hee Loy Sian.
The state executive council for environment said the current status of the exact locations involved in the re-gazettement are being updated by several state agencies.
“The Land and Mines Department, the Hulu Langat Land and District Office, as well as the Selangor Forestry Department, have to present the details to the state government and it is expected to happen this month,” he said
Hee was responding to a query from Banting assemblyman Lau Weng San, on the current status of the KLNFR gazettement during the State Legislative Assembly today.
Hee added that some 486.2 hectares of the KLNFR areas have been approved for the re-gazettement, following the decision made by the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN).
“Only 42 hectares of the KLNFR areas are involved in the degazettement process, as it is part of the solution for the Busut Baru aborigine’s village land ownership issues which have been delayed since 2006, as well as for the piping alignment of Sungai Rasau raw water treatment plant which stretches across 8.5 hectares,” he said.
On September 8 the state government cancelled its decision to degazette the forest reserve, except for the land ownership process.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said MMKS has also decided to maintain the decision to degazette a small part of the area, for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) alignment project.
