Fama: 49 contract farming participants affected by floods in Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 — The Selangor Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) found that the floods in the state affected 49 contract farming participants.

Its director Aiada Abdul Rashid expressed concern that the situation would affect the supply chain of agricultural produce in the state.

“The impact of the floods on the supply chain of agricultural produce is being studied by the government agencies involved,” she said after handing over contributions to participants of farmers market and farmers affected by the floods.

She said the contributions were raised through public donations and from non-governmental organisation.

Meanwhile in a statement the Selangor Fama said that it had opened its Crisis Management Centre Operations Room to ensure smooth delivery of assistance to agro-entrepreneurs who are affected by the floods.

The operations room is opened daily from 8.30am until 7pm.
