Flash floods victims in Klang rises over 1,000 

SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — The number of flash floods victims in several areas in Klang has risen to 1,011 people as of 7am today.

Citing report from Harian Metro, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said all the victims were placed in three temporary relief centres (PPS) namely in Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Telok Gong, Masjid As-Islah and Masjid Al-Ubudiah.

“SK Telok Gong recorded the highest number of victims, standing at 681 people as of now. The area was worst hit by flash floods.

“Meanwhile the remaining 256 are transferred to the PPS at Masjid As-Islah and 74 other victims at Masjid Al-Ubudiah. The operation is still underway,” he said when contacted.

Yesterday, a total of 20 areas in Klang were affected by flash floods following heavy rain that lasted for several hours.

Norazam said other affected areas are Pulau Indah, Pandamaran, Bandar Botanik, Telok Gadong, Bandar Sultan Suleiman and Bukit Tinggi.
