SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — Floods that hit Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam due to incessant rain from Friday morning (December 17) has fully receded early this morning, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar in a Twitter post said clean up efforts in the affected areas will begin today.

“Water (level) has fully receded early this morning, clean up process will also start today,” he Tweeted briefly.

Yesterday, National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) director-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim said the process of pumping out the floodwaters in Taman Sri Muda in Section 25, here, had run smoothly despite the heavy downpour around Shah Alam early in the morning.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad had on Tuesday said that over 80 per cent of floodwaters in the area had been pumped out into Sungai Klang.

Meanwhile, in a separate update on Bukit Changgang in Sepang, Amirudin said the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) will widen the ditches near Kg Bukit Changgang to drain out the floodwater.

“We hope that this would speed up the water to recede. The state government will provide excavators for the process,” said Amirudin, who also expressed his appreciation to Environment and Water Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Zaini Ujang for the efforts.
