FT Minister announces Dec 3 (Friday) public holiday for Federal Territories

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 2 — December 3 (Friday) has been declared a public holiday for all Federal Territories after Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC won the Malaysia Cup on November 30, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim announced yesterday.

In a special media conference here, he said the declaration was done under subsection 9(2) of the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369) for Federal Territories.

“Yesterday’s (November 30) victory was KL City FC’s best achievement after 32 years of waiting to win the Malaysia Cup since 1989,” he said.

On rewards for KL City FC players, Shahidan said it would be announced shortly.

In Tuesday’s Malaysia Cup final in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the prestigious competition, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) lost 0-2 to KL City FC, and failed to defend the title they won in 2019.

KL City FC’s goals came from midfielder Zhafri Yahya in the 66th minute and team captain Paulo Josue (74th minute), propelling the City Boys to a well-deserved victory and ending their 32-year drought for the coveted trophy.
