KDEBWM nears half-mark in completing Taman Sri Muda flood garbage collection

SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has collected around 35 to 40 per cent of post-flood garbage during the cleanup works in Taman Seri Muda thus far.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the operation has been ongoing since December 25, and the company hopes to complete the process within a week.

“KDEBWM workers use 80 to 90 Roll-on-Roll-off (RoRo) bins everyday together with other machinery, including 26 rental lorries, 18 backhoes, and four excavators, to collect waste from nearly 10,000 houses and 200 factories around the area.

“Taman Sri Muda is a huge area and we are using all machinery available, with cooperation from local councils, government agencies and private parties. We ask the residents to be patient as this operation will take a little more time,” he said during an interview with Media Selangor Facebook today.

Ramli added KDEBWM also monitors operations conducted in other districts, and will transfer the machinery and manpower from districts where the works have completed to Taman Sri Muda.

“We appreciate the cooperation of all parties and welcome any who wish to help in expediting the cleanup operation,” he said.
