KLANG, Dec 26 — The RM1,000 aid for flood victims and their families in Selangor will be given as soon as possible, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said they will obtain the assistance within two weeks, following the annoucement made on Tuesday.

“This Monday we will focus on gathering the data of victims, we will try to expedite it. The process will take some time, since it involves tens of thousands of victims in the state.

“We will give the aid as fast as possible, either in cash or deposited into their bank accounts,” Amirudin said during his field visit to flood victims and to contribute goods, in Taman Maznah and Taman Sentosa yesterday.

Earlier on the state government announced a RM100 million allocation to kickstart the Selangor Bangkit programme, following the series of floodings in Selangor last week.

Asides from infrastructural recovery, the Menteri Besar said the allocation encompasses RM10,000 in aid to the families of flood victims who perished.

The RM1,000 in aid will be provided to flood victims’ heads of households, which is meant for them to restore their homes and replace damaged goods.
