MBI allocated RM1.5 mln to help flood victims in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Dec 25 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated RM1.5 million to provide basic necessities and food items to 69 temporary relief centers (PPS) throughout the state.

In a statement issued yesterday, its Corporate Social Responsibility Department said of the total, RM1.1 million were spent for distributing aid in stages since the flood disaster hit the state.

“MBI is always concerned and aware of any situation that takes place in Selangor, especially when a disaster strikes and impacts the people,” the statement read.

MBI stated that it had also established its own volunteer team to help those affected.

The team is led by MBI chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek and includes 30 of its employees.

According to the statement, the volunteer team had visited several areas in Klang and Shah Alam to help with the post-flood cleaning process.

“MBI Selangor in collaboration with other agencies have also participated in the Dapur Ehsan programme, held at the Menteri Besar’s official residence, to help prepare food for the flood victims,” it said.

Since December 17, MBI has proactively took part in helping the flood victims, including in providing 5,000 self-test kits to the temporary relief centres and distributing other necessities such as formula milk, food and disposable diapers.
