She was responding to a question from Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
Jamaliah had inquired on whether there is was a gender quota in departments, agencies or portfolios under the state government,
Meanwhile, when asked about measures to improve the performance of women’s leadership, Dr Siti Mariah said the administration constantly evaluates the ability, performance, and competence of individuals to hold important positions.
“If a person is a high performer then this administration will appoint (them) without discriminating against their gender to hold the position of department heads.
“This also includes the state public service, local authorities, and state statutory bodies. Based on the current staffing data, there are two women district officers and one female council president,” she said.
