Over 300 state-sponsored students accomplish high marks in last year’s SPM, best in past five years

SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — A total of 322 or 6.4 per cent of students sponsored by Yayasan Selangor achieved their key performance indicators (KPI) by scoring 5As in the 2020 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Its senior director (Education) Zahura Zakry described the 2.4 per cent increase as Yayasan Selangor’s best achievement since 2016.

“Congratulations to those who made excellent achievements in SPM 2020, even as students faced various challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” she said at the Yayasan Selangor Education Excellence Awards 2019/2020 held online today.

Zahura added the performance of Hipers Programme students also indicated an improvement, although they did not manage to achieve the set KPIs.

“Achievements of 4As and above have increased by 4.6 per cent, compared to 2019.

“Meanwhile, 57.8 per cent or 144 students managed to obtain 4As and above even though students faced various difficulties before sitting for the SPM exam,” she said.
