Over 33,000 registrations for Covid-19 booster recorded via SELangkah

SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — A total of 33,358 individuals have pre-registered for the Covid-19 boosters under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) Booster through the SELangah app as of Monday.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said those interested in getting their booster shots must pre-register to avoid crowdedness at the 13 Selcare Clinics.

She said the clinics have also stopped accepting walk-ins of non-registered persons.

“We have limited each clinic to 150 doses per day with two available vaccinators. However, some of the clinics administered more than 200 doses as they received an overwhelming response, such as the Selcare Clinics in Puchong and Skypark.

“The response received on the first day was beyond our expectation. It turns out that many out there want to get Sinovac after reading up that mixing the type of vaccines enhances its effectiveness,” said Dr Siti Mariah on the Bual Bicara talk show titled ‘Booster dose measures for self-protection, aired on SelangorTV YouTube channel and Media Selangor Facebook, last night.

She said the state government had decided to carry out the initiative at the Selcare Clinics after receiving feedback that booster shots offered via MySejahtera were less well-received.

“It is sufficient to have it at the Selcare clinics. Otherwise, it would be like the Selvax for Adolescents initiative where we have provided (the vaccination centres), but the turnout was just a little.

“Clinics which receive more crowds can get the help of Suka (Selangor Health Community Volunteers) to ease the procedure,” she added.

The Selangor administration had announced a total of 157,000 booster doses to be distributed for free via the Selvax Booster initiative beginning December 8.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said those aged 18 years and above and are fully vaccinated can get their booster shots at the nearest Selcare Clinic.
