Residents asked to allow KDEBWM lorries through

SHAH ALAM, Dec 26 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has requested the public cooperate in not blocking the garbage trucks trying to enter housing areas to clear post-flood waste.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said contractors need to expedite the process of transporting leftover waste, so more rounds can be carried out in the affected areas.

“When victims return to their respective homes, they will certainly check the goods and separate the garbage, which include placing flood-damaged vehicles outside their houses.

“This results in traffic congestion. The Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) lorries cannot enter, in addition to the fact the area’s paths become narrow, making it more difficult to collect garbage,” he said when contacted.

Ramli also thanked the agencies, local authorities, and NGOs who stepped forward to provide aid on this.

“Many parties have helped us this time, with over 20 local authorities participating by bringing all available assets, including necessary goods to be donated to flood victims,” he said.

The state-owned waste management company has been cleaning affected areas in several states since last Sunday in stages, and expects it to be resolved within another week.

Selangor has received help from the local authorities in other states, as well as volunteers to expedite the cleaning process.
