Rising Kuala Selangor water levels result in additional evacuation centres

SHAH ALAM, Dec 20 — A total of eight temporary relief centres have been opened to accommodate flood victims around Kuala Selangor, as of 10.35am this morning.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari said the Kuala Selangor District and Land Office together with other agencies are actively carrying out the evacuation process.

“The Kuala Selangor area has shown a pattern of rising water levels so far, eight evacuation centres have been opened,” he said via Twitter today.

Meanwhile, Bukit Melawati assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli said on Twitter the number of flood victims evacuated in the district has reached 2,000 people, as of 11.35am.

She said Kampung Tanjung Siam, Kampung Asahan and part of Kampung Bukit Kuching were flooded, with the evacuation process currently ongoing.

Juwairiya asked flood victims to contact the Kuala Selangor District and Land Office Disaster Operations Room for any assistance at 03-3289 7632.
