SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — The bulk waste temporary transfer stations in Selangor are under constant monitoring to ensure the post-flood cleaning process in the state would run smoothly.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said the task is carried out by KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM), a state agency responsible for Selangor’s domestic and bulk waste collection.

“The monitoring of the temporary transfer stations with KDEBWM is to ensure smooth garbage collection after the flooding incident and hopefully the stations are able to meet current needs.

“Even though the waste collected comes in high capacity, the process should not be delayed further,” said Ng on Facebook.

Meanwhile, KDEBWM said the cleanup works were carried out today in several affected areas including Hulu Langat, Puchong, Meru, Semenyih and Kampung Bestari Jaya.

In another development, Sentosa assemblyman G Gunaraj and a volunteer team had visited the flood-hit areas yesterday to distribute basic necessities and verify flood claims forwarded by the victims.

“I was there until 2am for cleaning works. Thank you to the volunteers for putting in their time and energy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sementa constituency coordinator Mohd Sa’adon Muah, Kapar Indian Community chairman K Chelvaraj Muniandy and the Sementa’s Selangor Community Health Volunteers (Suka) have channeled immediate assistance to the flood victims.

This includes basic essentials and cash aid to one of the families affected by the flood, who were forced to set up a temporary tent at Jalan Benteng Kapar.

Mohd Sa’adon informed that his team are looking for a temporary location to house the family of 10, including two children, after they had to evacuate their rented house and were also unable to seek shelter following the closure of the temporary relief centre at Sekolah Rendah Agama Kapar, yesterday.
