State govt provides nearly RM5 million assistance to 95 Tamil schools

GOMBAK, Dec 11 — Approximately 95 Tamil vernacular schools throughout Selangor have received infrastructural assistance with RM4.9 million in funds.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the one-session assistance was channeled online to ensure the schools involved can withstand the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The distribution to these schools completes nearly RM24 million as allocated by the state government, to assist a total of 637 schools in Selangor which require assistance.

“I greatly hope the assistance provided is used well, as it is the start of good relations between the schools and the state government,” he said during the check handing ceremony to SJKT Batu Caves yesterday.

Amirudin added that starting this year, school assistance applications will be fully implemented online, via the Smart Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat System (SSIPR)

He said access to the system can be obtained via SSIPR applications starting near year, to make it easier and to expedite the assistance application process.

Earlier beforehand, the Menteri Besar provided RM9 million in assistance which will benefit 137 Chinese vernacular schools, Chinese vernacular secondary schools, Chinese vernacular independent secondary schools, and missionary schools, at SMPC Ping Hwa in Klang.

Amirudin also provided RM9.3 million in assistance to 405 religious schools at Sekolah Kelas al-Quran dan Fardu Ain Al-Maarof in Johan Setia, Klang.
