SHAH ALAM, Jan 7 — Flood victims who did not relocate to the temporary relief centres (PPS) have started receiving the cash aid of RM1,000 under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme.

Petaling district officer Dato’ Johary Anuar said the distribution in the district was carried out according to the respective settlement, involving all categories including those who did not relocate to the PPS when the flood disaster began on December 18 last year.

He said the distribution was handed over to the victims who were identified using data compiled by the head of the village or the community leader that was sent to the district office.

“We distribute the aid to all flood victims regardless if they stayed at PPS or not, as long as the application was approved, we will contact them to come to the nearest distribution centre according to given date and time.

“They are only required to show documents for verification purposes, and for those who cannot make it, they can collect the cash aid at the Petaling District Government Office Complex,” he told SelangorKini when contacted yesterday.

Johary added they aim to start the home registration process, specifically for those who were left out from getting the assistance, after January 31.

Similarly Klang district officer Mohd Faizal Abd Raji said his party has also intensified the donation process to more victims including those who did not relocate to the PPS.

“The Klang Land and District Office is actively processing BSB applications and we have started distributing the cash aid to the applicants regardless of where they chose to stay during the flooding,” he said.

Meanwhile Dusun Tua state assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof said the first phase of distribution is taking place in Hulu Langat, focusing on the victims who did not relocate to the PPS.

“We are trying to speed up the distribution process, to help reduce flood victims’ burden. After this, the second phase will be commenced to identify those who were left out from getting the assistance,” he said.
