SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — The Selangor government gave its assurance that the welfare of flood victims in the state will be taken care of to help ease their burdens in starting a new post-disaster life.

State executive councillor for rural development Borhan Aman Shah said as a testimony various assistance have been provided to the victims covering all aspects such as safety, medical, home restoration, cleaning and financial.

He said the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) cash aid with an allocation of RM100 million was distributed immediately before the schools’ session starts next week.

“Not long after this, we will be celebrating the fasting month and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, therefore we need to help in any way we could,” he said.

He was quoted on the Bual Bicara talk show titled ‘‘Cultivating culture in Selangor’ broadcast live on SelangorTV YouTube and Media Selangor Facebook, last night.

He added the process to apply for the cash aid has been made easier and the affected victims just need to get the verification from the head of the village or state assemblyman.

As of now, a total of 8,219 families have received the cash aid of RM1,000 under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit initiative with the cumulative cost amounting to RM8.239 million.

The process of disbursing the money to flood victims is expected to conclude by the end of this month.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on Twitter said the distribution of the cash aid will be given from house to house to facilitate the victims.
