Floods: Six families evacuated in Banting

SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — A total of 15 victims from six families in Kampung Sungai Nangka, Banting were evacuated to the Dewan Orang Ramai Sri Langat after their houses were inundated following continuous heavy rains yesterday afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said they received a call regarding the incident at 7.30pm.

According to him, a total of seven members from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) along with their machinery, Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) Team van and boats were rushed to the location.

“As soon as we arrived at the location at 8pm, the average water level was two feet (0.6 meters) high and showed an increasing trend.

“Almost all the families in the village have already moved,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Norazam said as precautionary measures they would continue to monitor the situation in the area.
