SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — State executive councillor for infrastructure and public amenities Izham Hashim expressed his gratitude to the Works Department (JKR) team and Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) for completing the mobile bridge at Jalan Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, the installation of the the bailey bridge at Jalan Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, was completed by JKR Petaling within 24 hours, aided by ATM.

“Thank you to everyone involved in the installation. Insha-Allah, I will inform the public of developments on the infrastructural repairs from time to time,” he said in a Facebook post.

The construction of the temporary bridge, measuring at 18.24 metres long and 7.35 metres wide, is meant to aid 12 families who were cut off from the main roads, after the bridge leading to their residential area across the Langat River collapsed due to the floods.

The extraordinary heavy rain between December 17 and December 19 resulted in twice the amount of rainfall than the previous high of 180mm, causing many locations in the state to be submerged in water.
