SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — A total of 500 families affected by the floods in Jalan Kebun have received RM1,000 each under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme near here yesterday.

The cash aid was handed over at the Klang Land and District Office (PTD) along with the Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI) cash assistance from the Federal government.

Klang PDT informed on Facebook that the cash aid is being distributed in stages and asked applicants to check messages sent to the mobile phone number they listed in their application form.

“We will make the announcement via the short message service (SMS) and phone call,” it said.

A total of 8,219 flood-affected families have received the RM1,000 cash aid through the BSB programme involving the cost of RM8.239 million so far and are expected to be completed by the end of January.

On December 21, the Selangor government allocated RM100 million in funds under the BSB programme, following the flood incident in several districts at the end of last year.

Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also covers cash aid of RM10,000 to the families of flood victims who perished in the incident. The RM1,000 cash aid also will be distributed to the heads of families to help restore their homes and cover damages.

Eligible recipients include flood victims who were relocated to the registered PPS, private PPS and those who remained at home.
